Immersive Experience at Gavardo Archaeological Museum: A Journey into Valle Sabbia History

The Archaeological Museum of Valle Sabbia (MAVS) in Gavardo recently unveiled an important new addition: a spectacular immersive room that redefines the start of the exhibition tour. The inauguration, held on December 6, marks a step forward in the use of digital technologies for enhancing cultural heritage.

The creation of this multimedia space is the result of the “ArtStories: The interactive – immersive cloud platform for cultural storytelling” project, an initiative co-financed by InnovaCultura, promoted by Regione Lombardia, Unioncamere, and Fondazione Cariplo.

The expert teams from Centrica and ArtCentrica oversaw the conception and implementation of the entire experience, transforming the museum’s introduction into a moment of powerful narrative impact.

The new room welcomes visitors with a captivating narrative that combines high-definition images, enveloping sounds, narrating voices, and animations. This immersion into the history of the museum and the Valle Sabbia is made possible by a cutting-edge technological system, including three projectors, computerized direction, multi-projection, and sophisticated directional audio, all designed to maximize emotional engagement.

The MAVS thus confirms its status as a reference point for knowledge about the Prehistory and civilizations of the area, also safeguarding artifacts of exceptional value, such as those originating from Lucone di Polpenazze, a site recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011.

In addition to the physical setup, the project involved the development of an interactive cloud platform. This digital resource is designed to offer students and the public the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the territory dynamically, through the exploration of digitized artifacts, consulting dedicated Stories, and accessing specific educational materials.

The high attendance at the inauguration highlighted the excitement for the integration of archaeology and digital technology, confirming that new technologies are essential tools for bringing new generations closer to culture and enhancing the value of archaeological heritage.
